2,500 Geordies made the 820 mile round trip to Plymouth on Monday (April 19th) to see their club put right the pain and embarrassment of last years relegation. A point was needed to confirm our promotion as Champions, but we took all 3 instead. View the video below that i took of the last few moments of the match and the subsequent pitch invasion.

An amazing night, with an amazing atmosphere was capped off on full time when the toon faithful invaded the pitch to celebrate with the Newcastle United players.

I have to say though, the Plymouth fans and officials were amazing sports. Before the game they paraded a banner congratulating Newcastle (see pic below) before handing the banner over to the Newcastle fans, and then on full time our fans were allowed onto the pitch while “The Blaydon Races”, “We Are The Champions” and “Local Hero” were played out on the speaker system. Plymouth fans also came onto the pitch and congratulated the Newcastle fans which was very nice of them.

I could end this post right now with a simple answer to this blog posts title…….. I haven’t got a clue.

For the first time ever, i dont feel like renewing my season ticket for the coming season, and i know i’m not alone in feeling that way. All i am clinging onto right now is the hope of new owners and the appointment of Alan Shearer bringing new hope. Every day though is another wasted day while the new takeover drags on. We need to be buying and selling players right now. It should have started on the Monday after we were relegated.

I dont want to be in the “Fizzy Pop” league more than 1 season, but right now i cant see us getting promotion with the way the club is setup right now. Birmingham were promoted in their first season after being relegated, so thats what i want and its what i expect of a club of Newcastle United’s size.

I want to see a full clear out of the overpaid 50 grand a week mercenaries, including the likes of, Coloccini, Cacapa, Barton, Martins, Owen, Xisco, Geremi, Ameobi and Viduka, plus a few others who i cant be bothered to even remember exist.

I then want some young hungry players who are desperate to play in the Premier League and who will do all they can to get this club back where they belong.

Shearer needs to be given full control over who comes and goes, and he also needs to be asked exactly who he wants on his backroom staff.

How things change tough, i remember starting the 1997/98 season after we finished 2nd the season before, and i thought we could win the league….. We finished 13th under Kenny Dalglish. Then season after season my expectations lowered and lowered. I still hoped for top 4, 5 or 6th position finishes over the next few years, and then it lowered to 7th or 8th and then just hoping to get in the Uefa Cup, then it was hoping to finish in the top half, to hoping to avoid relegation and to what it is today.

I know its crap being a Newcastle United fan right now, but what i keep reminding myself is, that in years to come when Mike Ashley is long gone, Newcastle United will still be here and always will be. It could be worse…. I could be a mackem.
