2,500 Geordies made the 820 mile round trip to Plymouth on Monday (April 19th) to see their club put right the pain and embarrassment of last years relegation. A point was needed to confirm our promotion as Champions, but we took all 3 instead. View the video below that i took of the last few moments of the match and the subsequent pitch invasion.
An amazing night, with an amazing atmosphere was capped off on full time when the toon faithful invaded the pitch to celebrate with the Newcastle United players.
I have to say though, the Plymouth fans and officials were amazing sports. Before the game they paraded a banner congratulating Newcastle (see pic below) before handing the banner over to the Newcastle fans, and then on full time our fans were allowed onto the pitch while “The Blaydon Races”, “We Are The Champions” and “Local Hero” were played out on the speaker system. Plymouth fans also came onto the pitch and congratulated the Newcastle fans which was very nice of them. continue reading »

316 days earlier I was at Villa Park to experience the pain and humiliation of relegation out of the Premier League after 16 years. Newcastle United was a team with no spirit, no ambition and no hope. We were heading to the Championship, and a lot of people thought eventually on its way to League 1.
A summer of rumoured takeovers and mis-management led to a 6-1 thrashing by Leyton Orient in a friendly on July 29th, but that was the day that Newcastle United was reborn and a new era began. continue reading »

Today is a big day. A day i’ve been looking forward to for years. Today I will be taking my son to his first Newcastle United match.
It might not be the kind of opposition i thought we would be playing back in 2003 when he was born, but that really doesn’t matter. I’ve been thinking about this day since before he was born, and i wanted to be sure that his first game, would be a moment he would remember. continue reading »

In just under 3 months time, we will know if Newcastle United will be either promoted back to the Premier League, about to play in the Play Offs, or consigned to another season in the Championship. I’m pretty sure, the last of those 3 options wont happen, but as it stands right now, i’m not sure which of the 2 other options will happen.
Last night we lost 3-0 away to Derby, which was a huge blow but unfortunately for me, this wasn’t a huge surprise. I’ve got no confidence in Newcastle getting wins away from home and thats a major problem for a club that would like to either win this league or get promoted in 2nd position.

Football is a beautful game, but sometimes certain things drive you crazy. I’m not even going to get into the offside rule, but there are certain things that could be easily fixed.
I have listed below things that i would like to be brought into our game.
1) Just like a footballer can only play for 2 teams in one season, i would only allow clubs to have 2 managers in one season. Clubs can only sack one manager a season. There would of course be exceptions such as a manager being sacked for fighting or some other serious incident, but for pure footballing reasons, a club should only be allowed to sack one manager per season.
2) Towels on the touchline. I’ve seen it a few times now where the home team get the ball boys to give towels to their player who is taking a long through in, but when the away team has tried to get the same towel they haven’t been able to. If the ball is wet, just use your shirt.
