Things were going too well at Newcastle United. Emphatic promotion back to the premier league as champions, decent start to the new premier league season, destroying our local rivals 5-1, great team spirit and a set of players who actually wanted to play for this club, so obviously theres only one thing that the club should do. Thats right, sack the manager.
Chris Hughton has done an amazing job at Newcastle United, and was on course to accomplish our aim of avoiding relegation in our first season back in the premier league. Most Newcastle fans at the beginning of the season would have been happy with finishing 17th at the end of the season, so to be 11th in the league right now is just fine. continue reading »

This will be my 2nd Great North Run, last year being my first, and i am starting to get really excited, although at the same time i am a bit nervous about hitting my targets. The thing is, i am a very competitive person, i have to win. If its a game of 5 a side, i end up playing as if its a world cup final. I have to give 100%. With my running, theres no winning or losing, all i have are the challenges i set myself.
Last year i ran the Great North Run in 2 hours 15 minutes. For the weeks and months before that run, i used the Nike+ app on my ipod touch, and it actually turned out to be very inaccurate. I had one of the older iPod touches, so it didn’t have GPS, so when i thought i was running upto 10 miles, the furthest i actually ever ran was 7-8 miles. So i went into the 2009 Great North Run, thinking i was going to run well under 2 hours, and when i didn’t i couldn’t understand where i went wrong. continue reading »

For quite a while now i’ve wanted to do the Coast2Coast cycle route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, but i’ve always had the challenge in my mind of doing it in 1 day.
Last week I thought to myself, lets just do it. So the date was set. I would attempt the C2C in one day on the following Wednesday (June 2nd).
As many of you will know, on Wednesday there were tragic events in the Cumbrian region, when Derrick Bird went on the rampage, shooting dead 12 people. Of all the days to choose to visit Whitehaven for the first time in my life, it had to be the day i was in the area when all of these tragic events were taking place. My story below will go on to explain how i was oblivious to what was going on but due to my own mistakes, i quite possibly helped myself keep out of the path of this killer. continue reading »

2,500 Geordies made the 820 mile round trip to Plymouth on Monday (April 19th) to see their club put right the pain and embarrassment of last years relegation. A point was needed to confirm our promotion as Champions, but we took all 3 instead. View the video below that i took of the last few moments of the match and the subsequent pitch invasion.
An amazing night, with an amazing atmosphere was capped off on full time when the toon faithful invaded the pitch to celebrate with the Newcastle United players.
I have to say though, the Plymouth fans and officials were amazing sports. Before the game they paraded a banner congratulating Newcastle (see pic below) before handing the banner over to the Newcastle fans, and then on full time our fans were allowed onto the pitch while “The Blaydon Races”, “We Are The Champions” and “Local Hero” were played out on the speaker system. Plymouth fans also came onto the pitch and congratulated the Newcastle fans which was very nice of them. continue reading »
