The new St Andrews Way in Eldon Square, Newcastle, opened today and the best thing about it for me personally, was the new Apple Store. Until now, the closest Apple Store to me was Sheffield, but now i have one right by me which is great.

I went down there today to take a look, and it was extremely busy. The outside of the shop looks just like a lot of their other bog standard stores, they weren’t going for an iconic store style like Fifth Avenue New York or Regent Street London, but i dont really care about that. It looks great in my opinion. You can see a quick photo i took below.

(Click The Image, for a larger version.)

I’m just hoping Apple release a new iPod Touch with a camera built into it, and then i’ll be back to pick one up, plus i like the look of the huge 27″ iMac’s.

Overall the new St Andrews Way mall in Eldon Square is great. The quality of shops is high and the huge spacious feeling you get when you first walk through all adds to a pleasant shopping experience. I’ll take a better look around once the huge crowds die down and have a look in some of the other shops. Today, i just wanted to check out Apple.

If you are based in the UK and you are thinking of getting new double glazing or a conservatory for your house……. make sure you AVOID Pennine Windows.

This company really is a joke. We bought double glazing from them, and we have had nothing but hassle from them since the first day they tried to install the new windows.

1) Firstly the surveyor took wrong measurements.

2) When the windows were installed, the double window in my sons bedroom was damaged. Because of the surveyors wrong measurements, there was a tight squeeze, so they used a crowbar to force the window in, which led to the window bending and a huge crack appearing.

3) Because of this damaged window, the window sill could not be fitted and 3 weeks later it still hasn’t been fitted.

4) The damaged window was replaced the week after the work was first attempted, but they forgot to bring the window sill. The window is still not properly sealed, and there is a cold draft in my sons bedroom, and its been like that for weeks. This cold has made him ill.

5) Pennine then arranged to come out and fit the window sill, only for me to get phone call on the morning it was supposed to be fitted telling me that they weren’t coming.

6) A few days later they are supposed to come again and fit the window sill. They arrive at my house at 9.05am, while i am dropping my son off at school. I ring the office at 9.15am and ask if they will come back. I dont mind if they go off and do their next job. I will even pay for their petrol to get there and back. They flatly refuse. They wont come back. Surely they could do the other job first and then mine. All that is happening is that they are doing there jobs for today in a different order. I will pay for their fuel. Their other job is about 15-20 minutes from my house, so its not a huge journey.

After they have messed me around so much, i would have thought they would do everything they could to make up for their poor service.

I’ve spent thousands of pounds on these windows, and the work is still not even complete almost a month after they started fitting it all.

To save yourself a load of hassle, DO NOT USE PENNINE WINDOWS

Football shirts, scarfs, flowers, letters, photos, paintings and teddy bears were just some of the things left by well wishers, and once the stadium was closed to the public 9 days after his death an amazing site was left on the Leazes End at St James’ Park, a site which couldn’t help but move you.

I visited the stadium a few times in the days after Sir Bobby’s death and i took some photos and a short video of the tributes left by fans from all over the world.

The word “Legend” is used way to much for people who don’t really deserve that label. Today though we lost a real “Legend”. Sir Bobby Robson lost his brave battle against cancer today, only 5 days after appearing on the St. James Park pitch before the “Sir Bobby Robson Foundation” charity match between England and Germany. That just shows what kind of man Sir Bobby was…. Still fighting right to the end. I know if i was in his position, i would have been laid up in bed, but not Sir Bobby. Him and his family must have known he was close to the end, but he still couldn’t miss his own charity foundations football match.

Growing up as a youngster, we all have our heroes. West Ham fans worshiped Bobby Moore, and Man Utd fans George Best. My hero though was Sir Bobby Robson, and today has been a massive shock to me as i didn’t expect to feel this upset. Whenever celebrities died and i saw people on the TV crying, i could never understand that, as i always though, “But You Didn’t Know Him/Her”. Today though, it all makes sense now and i fully understand it.

I only ever came close to Sir Bobby on a couple of occasions when i got autographs from him, but right from the age of 7, when he lead England to the world cup semi final, i always felt i knew him, and when he became Newcastle manager that was my dream come true.

Today, myself and my son went along to St James Park and paid our respects along with hundreds of other fans, and not just Newcastle fans. Below you will see a picture of the first few tributes that have been laid, and i’m sure over this coming weekend thousands of people will enter St. James Park to pay their respects to this true Legend.

As a kid growing up my favourite film bar none was, The Goonies. I just couldn’t get enough of it. My dream was to be one of the Goonies, but unfortunately that never happened.

As i grew up, the film would come on TV every few years and i’d watch it again and again and never tire of it, and only last year i got the DVD for my son and now he loves it aswell.

While reading the digitalspy.co.uk website today i saw an interview with Chris Columbus, who was the guy who wrote the original screenplay for the film, and he had this to say about a possible sequel to the film….

Columbus said: “Joe Pantoliano (One of the Fratelli brothers in the film) said that Richard Donner (Director of The Goonies Film) talked to him about six months ago about the sequel. I think the only way it could be done is if the kids are now the parents, and their kids have become the Goonies. I still think the two brothers are still alive and well, so they could still be in the movie.”

“So it’s a matter of whether or not they could recreate that concept.”

Corey Feldman, who also starred in the first picture, recently said that he would sign up for the update.

So there you go… A sequal is possible and i for sure will be looking forward to it if it does become a reality.

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!! (If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know what that means.)

I know i’m in the minority here, but i really wasn’t a fan of Michael Jackson or his music, although “Man in The Mirror” was an alright song. But i do still feel a bit of shock with the news of his death, but at the same time this is Michael Jackson…. He was never going to die of natural causes in his 70s, 80s or 90s. He’s lived his life in his own imaginary world, and unfortunately it has come to a premature end way before his time which is hugely sad.

I can’t deny that this guy was one of the most famous people on our planet and was loved by millions, but i just couldn’t get my head aroud the whole sleeping with little boys thing that weren’t his children. My little boy often jumps into our bed during the night when he cant sleep or when hes scared of the dark and thats fine, but if i had a neighbors kid in our bed, i’d be lynched and rightly so. Why was Michael Jackson Different?

Those memories were to easily forgotton i feel, but still i say RIP Wacko Jacko.

I’m a huge fan of “Lost”, but the show is currently out of season, and theres still at least another 7 months until the final season starts, so i’m on the look out for my next TV show that i will be addicted to.

Thats where “Flash Forward” comes in…..

I heard about “Flash Forward” a few weeks ago before it had even been signed up by one of the major US tv networks, and its plot straight away caught my eye.

The story goes a bit like this…. A weird global event sees the entire population of the world experience 2 minutes and 17 seconds of their life, 6 months in the future. When everyone wakes from this event, all hell brakes loose, with many people dead from accidents involving vehicles and aircraft that required human control, but obviously weren’t under control while their drivers were in this “Flash Forward”.
