If you have a number of tabs open when you are running the Firefox 4 browser, and you then close the browser, you will find that the next time you open the browser, those tabs will not be saved.

There is a way to change this setting without installing any extensions. To do this, just follow these instructions.

    1. Type about:config at the address bar and hit enter.

    2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button

    3. In the little search box, type browser.showQuitWarning and hit enter.

    4. Now just simply double click that option to change the value from False to True.

Now whenever you quit Firefox 4, you will be asked if you want to save your open tabs for the next time you open the Browser. There is also an option to turn off that message every time you close your browser, but your tabs will still be saved.

————————————-

I was recently contacted by the Newcastle Fans United group who asked me if they could use some of my video footage from the Newcastle Vs Plymouth match on April 19th 2010, when Newcastle secured promotion back to the Premier League as Champions. The fans group are creating a short film to highlight the financial trouble that Plymouth Argyle find themselves in, and facing the distinct possibility of going out of business.

That night was very special for Newcastle United fans, and to experience Plymouth Argyle blasting out “We are the Champions” and “The Blaydon Races” over the speaker system and to allow the Newcastle fans celebrate on their pitch on the same night their club had just been relegated to League 1, was nothing short of amazing.

I am proud to have my video footage in the film which can be seen below, and all i can say is, please check out www.argyletrust.com for more info on what can be done to help this club.

There might come a time where you start having some problems with your installation of Firefox, and one way to troubleshoot the issues is by starting Firefox in safe mode. Doing this allows you to compare behavior with Firefox in normal mode and Firefox in safe mode.

To start Firefox in safe mode, just do the following,

On the menu bar right at the top of the screen, click Help.
Now click the Restart with Add-ons Disabled… option.

You will then be asked to confirm you want to restart Firefox in safe mode. Just click OK.

You will then be given several options which you can use, which will help you diagnose any problems you are having with Firefox. There is also the option quit, and resume Firefox in normal mode.

To get Firefox back into normal mode, just quit the program and restart it. You will then be back in normal mode.

Have you ever noticed whilst browsing a website such as an online shopping website, that when you then go onto another website, you then see banner ads which are advertising the exact kind of products you were just looking at on that shopping website?

This kind of thing is becoming more and more regular, with websites using cookies and other things to track exactly what you are looking at and then sharing that data with third party ad networks who in turn are then able to show highly targeted ads to you.

There is a way in Firefox 4 to stop this from happening. Just follow the instructions below,

Open up your preferences, and then select the “Advanced” tab. Then simply select the option on that page that says, “Tell websites I do not want to be tracked” – (Click the image below to see exactly where i mean.)

I have just upgraded my Firefox browser on my mac to version 4.0, and one thing that stuck out straight away that really annoyed me, was that on the bookmark toolbar all of my bookmarks and folders had a favicon beside them. In version 3.6 these favicons weren’t there and it really helped keep my browsers layout as clean as possible and of course it gave the bookmark menu a little more room.

Luckily there is a way to remove these favicons from the bookmark toolbar.

Firstly, download the ChromeEdit Plus add-on from http://webdesigns.ms11.net/chromeditp.html (Even thought that site says that Mac OS isn’t supported, i can confirm it is. I use a mac. Just go ahead an install as normal)

Once that is installed and you have restarted the browser, click Tools, then ChromeEdit Plus, and then ChromeEdit.

Now look for this line of code,
@namespace url(“http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul”); /* set default namespace to XUL */

You now need to past the following piece of code, directly under that code

#PlacesToolbarItems .toolbarbutton-icon {display:none!important;}

Click save, and restart the browser.

————————————-
Please Download the myRun iPhone Fitness App – $0.99 – Click Here

The new St Andrews Way in Eldon Square, Newcastle, opened today and the best thing about it for me personally, was the new Apple Store. Until now, the closest Apple Store to me was Sheffield, but now i have one right by me which is great.

I went down there today to take a look, and it was extremely busy. The outside of the shop looks just like a lot of their other bog standard stores, they weren’t going for an iconic store style like Fifth Avenue New York or Regent Street London, but i dont really care about that. It looks great in my opinion. You can see a quick photo i took below.

(Click The Image, for a larger version.)

I’m just hoping Apple release a new iPod Touch with a camera built into it, and then i’ll be back to pick one up, plus i like the look of the huge 27″ iMac’s.

Overall the new St Andrews Way mall in Eldon Square is great. The quality of shops is high and the huge spacious feeling you get when you first walk through all adds to a pleasant shopping experience. I’ll take a better look around once the huge crowds die down and have a look in some of the other shops. Today, i just wanted to check out Apple.

Sir Bobby Robson lost his brave battle against cancer today, only 5 days after appearing on the St. James Park pitch before the “Sir Bobby Robson Foundation” charity match between England and Germany. That just shows what kind of man Sir Bobby was…. Still fighting right to the end. I know if i was in his position, i would have been laid up in bed, but not Sir Bobby. Him and his family must have known he was close to the end, but he still couldn’t miss his own charity foundations football match.

Growing up as a youngster, we all have our heroes. West Ham fans worshiped Bobby Moore, and Man Utd fans George Best. My hero though was Sir Bobby Robson, and today has been a massive shock to me as i didn’t expect to feel this upset. Whenever celebrities died and i saw people on the TV crying, i could never understand that, as i always though, “But You Didn’t Know Him/Her”. Today though, it all makes sense now and i fully understand it.

I only ever came close to Sir Bobby on a couple of occasions when i got autographs from him, but right from the age of 7, when he lead England to the world cup semi final, i always felt i knew him, and when he became Newcastle manager that was my dream come true.

Today, myself and my son went along to St James Park and paid our respects along with hundreds of other fans, and not just Newcastle fans. Below you will see a picture of the first few tributes that have been laid, and i’m sure over this coming weekend thousands of people will enter St. James Park to pay their respects to this true Legend.

As a kid growing up my favourite film bar none was, The Goonies. I just couldn’t get enough of it. My dream was to be one of the Goonies, but unfortunately that never happened.

As i grew up, the film would come on TV every few years and i’d watch it again and again and never tire of it, and only last year i got the DVD for my son and now he loves it aswell.

While reading the digitalspy.co.uk website today i saw an interview with Chris Columbus, who was the guy who wrote the original screenplay for the film, and he had this to say about a possible sequel to the film….

Columbus said: “Joe Pantoliano (One of the Fratelli brothers in the film) said that Richard Donner (Director of The Goonies Film) talked to him about six months ago about the sequel. I think the only way it could be done is if the kids are now the parents, and their kids have become the Goonies. I still think the two brothers are still alive and well, so they could still be in the movie.”

“So it’s a matter of whether or not they could recreate that concept.”

Corey Feldman, who also starred in the first picture, recently said that he would sign up for the update.

So there you go… A sequal is possible and i for sure will be looking forward to it if it does become a reality.

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!! (If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know what that means.)
