For quite a while now i’ve wanted to do the Coast2Coast cycle route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth, but i’ve always had the challenge in my mind of doing it in 1 day.
Last week I thought to myself, lets just do it. So the date was set. I would attempt the C2C in one day on the following Wednesday (June 2nd).
As many of you will know, on Wednesday there were tragic events in the Cumbrian region, when Derrick Bird went on the rampage, shooting dead 12 people. Of all the days to choose to visit Whitehaven for the first time in my life, it had to be the day i was in the area when all of these tragic events were taking place. My story below will go on to explain how i was oblivious to what was going on but due to my own mistakes, i quite possibly helped myself keep out of the path of this killer. continue reading »

2,500 Geordies made the 820 mile round trip to Plymouth on Monday (April 19th) to see their club put right the pain and embarrassment of last years relegation. A point was needed to confirm our promotion as Champions, but we took all 3 instead. View the video below that i took of the last few moments of the match and the subsequent pitch invasion.
An amazing night, with an amazing atmosphere was capped off on full time when the toon faithful invaded the pitch to celebrate with the Newcastle United players.
I have to say though, the Plymouth fans and officials were amazing sports. Before the game they paraded a banner congratulating Newcastle (see pic below) before handing the banner over to the Newcastle fans, and then on full time our fans were allowed onto the pitch while “The Blaydon Races”, “We Are The Champions” and “Local Hero” were played out on the speaker system. Plymouth fans also came onto the pitch and congratulated the Newcastle fans which was very nice of them. continue reading »

316 days earlier I was at Villa Park to experience the pain and humiliation of relegation out of the Premier League after 16 years. Newcastle United was a team with no spirit, no ambition and no hope. We were heading to the Championship, and a lot of people thought eventually on its way to League 1.
A summer of rumoured takeovers and mis-management led to a 6-1 thrashing by Leyton Orient in a friendly on July 29th, but that was the day that Newcastle United was reborn and a new era began. continue reading »

Inspired by a blog post by Kevin Rose where he listed his products for 2010 that he couldn’t live without.
My list is slightly different, as i am only listing digital products and not physical products like the iPhone. continue reading »

Today is a big day. A day i’ve been looking forward to for years. Today I will be taking my son to his first Newcastle United match.
It might not be the kind of opposition i thought we would be playing back in 2003 when he was born, but that really doesn’t matter. I’ve been thinking about this day since before he was born, and i wanted to be sure that his first game, would be a moment he would remember. continue reading »
